'Threat' 2007-10 Oil & beeswax on board 76x76cm

Made with drawn pencil and crayon marks overlaid with oil and beeswax applied with both brush and knife on a hardboard panel.

Set in a light coloured creamy/grey ground with textural marks and layerings over darker colours a Prussian blue zig-zag form expands and advances as it moves down and across the painting. The surface is heavily scratched and scraped, predominantly in vertical striations with dark reds, brighter blue and orange marks within the dark blue form and beneath the lighter ground suggesting a buried calligraphy.
